The Project of "100Thousand Gardens of Sicily" supports and develops local capabilities.
It calls upon everyone to work together to build a better country through the implementation of gardens that work. A garden works if it produces, if it is beautiful and useful. This is the way to reassert the value of gardens and landscape into everyday life.
Any garden, if it has been properly designed and implemented, with the right plants, the appropriate materials, following the principles and methods of innovation is not just an amazing place to enjoy, but it becomes an important contribution to landscape construction.
The tesserae are already thousands, but they could be more than 100thousand.

The garden is all. Landscape is a huge living mosaic. Each green area, public or private, wide or small, ancient or modern, is a small tessera and a great resource. The harmony of the tesserae helps to find the values of landscape and life quality.
Many gardens do not work because they are ugly, messy, create damage, do not respect the landscape and local traditions. A missing garden means less greenery, less oxygen, less coolness, less beauty. Even a small garden can be an important part. A garden that works is not just a personal satisfaction, but produces a collective good.
One Hundred gardens are not few, but they can be implemented. We need a lot of work, many people who believe in their abilities. We have to trust landscape designers, specialized firms, manufacturers, institutions, schools.
It is important spreading the aims of the initiative, raising citizens' awareness. We have to show those gardens that deserve to be admired as they enhance the landscape, affect the tourists' approval. We want to prove the country potential and make people understand that there is something important to look after and defend.
Millions of Sicilians could be responsible for some small improvements that mark the
rebirth of a new way of thinking and loving their country.
